Work on the bug is coming along nicely. Mark and I made some good progress this weekend. I snapped some photos along the way. All of the fenders are off, hood, rear deck lid, running boards, interior (dash, seats, head liner, side panels), wiring, bumpers, glass (windshield, side windows, door windows, and rear glass) and the car is sitting pretty on jack stands. The lug nuts were a real b-otch to remove. Our new airtools were no match and we had to use a long 5′ metal pole to get the necessary torque. I imagine the last person at the tire store went a little overboard putting the wheels back on and went to the max with his 500ft-lb air gun.
Currently, we are slowly removing the underbody coating in the wheel wells and the glue that is left over from the interior. Next major step will be to remove the body from the frame and buy a welder and new floor pans. Enjoy these photos and these photos!
