Since we could not get out to Seattle in time for the Wild West rally (stupid weather, long story) we had plenty of time this weekend to work on the bug. I’ve posted some photos to the web.
Mark took exact measurements of the old floor pans. This way the body will line back up with the frame with no problems (in theory).
Old floor pans still attached.
Brand new floor, direct from Brazil, ready to be installed. $69 each! Can you believe it?
Old rusted floor pan removed from the main frame. 4.5″ cutoff wheels sure do make quick cuts in old metal.

I look over the frame after all of the black rubberized weather proofer was removed and sanded to metal.
Spot welds grinded off.
Frame sanded down.
Frame painted with self etching primer. When we are ready to weld in the new pans we’ll sand away the areas for welding.
